Criteria for Collective Identity
public lecture by Prof. Vincent Descombes (School of Social Sciences, Paris)
Moderator: Prof. Boyan Znepolski (HSSF/Sofia University)
Language: English
Annotation:
The lecture is focused on the problem of collective identity discussed in the context of the history of philosophy and in particular the prospects of Montesquieu, Hegel and Searle. The issue is directly related to the way people build their institutions such as how to establish a constitution? Who really has the power to create institutions and how do they come? Could we successfully make use of this power if it had not already been institutionalized?
